USGBC-LA: The Green Affordable Housing Program

The Green Affordable Housing Program (GAHP)

This program was developed to support all Angelenos in having healthy, efficient, and resilient places to live, work, and play. Many homes in areas of predominantly low-income housing or within historically underserved neighborhoods are energy-inefficient, within hazardous health areas, and add financial burden to the community residents through higher utility costs and medical expenses.

GAHP was designed to help fill the market gap while providing healthy, sustainable resources to owners and residents of NOAH multi-family properties located in the Eastern San Fernando Valley (e.g., Pacoima, Panorama City, Van Nuys, and North Hollywood) by providing:

  • Tenant Workshops in English and Spanish covering sustainable practices & occupant health to help reduce utility costs;
  • Enrollment assistance with LADWP programs and rebates;
  • Installation of community EV charging stations; and
  • Subsidized installation of innovative new green building technology to reduce utility costs

SCE Incentive Opportunities Expiring Soon

This year, Southern California Edison (SCE) is transitioning their energy efficiency programs to statewide third-party programs in accordance with California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) requirements. New third-party programs have already launched and will continue to become available over the course of 2021 and 2022. SoCalREN is keeping track of all the program changes to understand how they will affect our agencies and their projects. SoCalREN will continue to fill gaps and support our agencies’ projects after the existing programs close and new ones become available and help ensure energy efficiency and climate goals are achieved.
